Meditation is the best buzz by Stephen T. Jones and Puppetji

Just now I was thinking about the similarities of meditation and drinking alcohol.  I believe that opening our minds to the similarities of the two can really expanded our view of meditation and pray.  I have even gone to the point of meditating around people that are drunk and it has expanded the light and the darkness. Here are some ideas for how they are similar and I look forward to your comments and feel free to add come ideas.

  • Both drinking and meditation are about getting in the moment…It is common when you do either one to really starting to love the people around you until the buzz is over. Most of us that drink and/or meditate don’t bring these new perspectives into our everyday lives sustainably.
  • There are as many meditations as there are forms of alcohol. Whichever combination we choose can say a lot about who we are and how you view life. You can’t expect everyone to like your taste in alcohol and meditation.
  • Both can bring you closer to who you really are…I remember Bill Cosby saying that people say “drinking brings out your personality, which is okay unless you are an asshole.”
  • Both meditation and drinking can give you a hangover…Sometimes I go really deep in my meditation and when I am finished I don’t feel so good. Letting go of that fog really feels good.
  • Both drinking and meditation are better when you do with other people. Meditating alone is easier but it is usually more practical if you bring in the energy of others. Be careful with meditating or drinking in groups it can lead to mob mentality and can be really distractive if you are not aware of what you are doing.
  • Some of us do it not just because they like the taste of meditation or alcohol we do it because we want to fit in and be trendy. Being conscious can really be addictive we have many examples of those of use that love to eat, wear, look, smell and talk conscious when we really haven’t changed at all.
  • There are lots of rules for safety for drinking and ultimately meditation should have little or no rules. This makes it a lot easier to take the guidance that we learn and manifest it in our everyday lives.

Thanks for taking time to read this and remember whenever you drink or meditate BE SAFE.
